Superintendent Polly Bove and the Board of Trustees pose for a photo at the FUHSD Adult School Open House
Rachel Zlotziver

FUHSD celebrated the new FUHSD Adult School location at Vallco Mall with a community open house on Tuesday, Aug. 28. Community members had the opportunity to tour the new facility, meet current adult education teachers and students, and learn about the critical services provided by the District’s adult education programs. Students from various programs shared their personal stories and participated in demonstrations of their skills.

Last fall, Sand Hill Property Company offered to provide the school district with temporary facilities for the FUHSD Adult School at the vacant mall rent-free during the planned construction and modernization of the current FUHSD Educational Options facilities at 589 W. Fremont Avenue, Sunnyvale. The free use of these facilities represents a considerable cost savings to FUHSD and has allowed the district to continue to provide its adult education offerings uninterrupted during construction.

Blach Construction oversaw the transformation of the former Vallco food court into a beautiful and functional space for the FUHSD Adult Shool, complete with 11 classrooms, office space for staff and a large open area that can be utilized by the District as a meeting and training space.

FUHSD has had a longstanding commitment to engaging and teaching adults and children in the community before and far beyond the four years of high school. The educational services provided by the FUHSD Adult School enhance life-long learning opportunities and aid students who may wish to transition to college or the workforce.
