As you may be aware, on March 7, 2023, the FUHSD Board of Trustees passed a resolution indicating its intention to transition Governing Board elections from At-Large Elections to By-Trustee Area Elections. As part of this transition, the district has been seeking input from the community on the development of the trustee area boundary maps for the last seven months. (Please note this is not a boundary change for school attendance areas, rather a change in how the Board is elected).
As required by law, the Board held two pre-map hearings on Aug. 22, 2023 and Sept. 19, 2023. Three map hearings have already been held, on October 17, 2023 (first set of draft map scenarios presented by the district’s demographers), Feb. 27, 2024 (general update) and March 20, 2024 (second set of draft map scenarios presented by the Community Trustee Area Districting (CTAD) committee). The final map hearing is as follows:
- Wednesday, April 24, 2024: CTAD presents final recommendation to the Board and the Board chooses a final map and sequencing
The second set of draft community-based map scenarios is now available on our Mapping webpage for community review. These scenarios are labeled as Scenarios 5 through 7. Using the Web App link on this webpage, you can see all of the scenarios presented to date, and have the ability to zoom in to the street level detail in each map. You can also overlay city, school district, feeder district and neighborhood boundaries on each map.
Community members will have the opportunity to provide feedback on this second set of draft map scenarios, until April 3, in several ways:
- Provide feedback by emailing trusteeareas@fuhsd.org
- Complete the online survey at https://forms.gle/nUHbyBG8dVhxuQL39
- Provide public comment at the final CTAD committee meeting on Monday, April 8 located at the FUHSD District Office (meeting begins at 6 p.m.)
If you are looking for basic information on the transition to By-Trustee Areas, please view this webinar on our Trustee Areas webpage.
Estimada Comunidad FUHSD,

On March 7, 2023, the FUHSD Board of Trustees passed a resolution indicating its intention to transition Governing Board elections from At-Large Elections to By-Trustee Area Elections. The transition will see Board members elected from trustee areas, instead of by all District voters. As part of this transition, the district has been seeking input from the community on the development of the trustee area boundary maps. (Please note this is not a boundary change for school attendance areas, rather a change in how the Board is elected).
In order to improve the outreach component of this process and to assist in the process of developing maps for ultimate consideration by the Board of Trustees, the Board requested that a Community Trustee Area Districting (CTAD) Committee be formed to facilitate the process of gathering input and developing the draft maps that will be considered by the Board. The CTAD committee will be holding multiple community meetings to gather public input. The committee will then submit a set of focus maps to the Board of Trustees to be considered. More information about the CTAD, including the list of CTAD Committee meetings, can be found on CTAD webpage.
FUHSD will also post updates on this process to our Trustee Areas webpage. Please visit these webpages for more information and to stay updated on this process. This webpage will include updates on opportunities for public input, the process for developing the trustee area boundary map, dates of relevant hearings, and the draft boundary maps themselves.
