As you may be aware, on March 7, 2023, the FUHSD Board of Trustees passed a resolution indicating its intention to transition Governing Board elections from At-Large Elections to By-Trustee Area Elections. As part of this transition, the district has been seeking input from the community on the development of the trustee area boundary maps for the last eight months. (Please note this is not a boundary change for school attendance areas, rather a change in how the Board is elected).

As part of the process of moving to By-Trustee Area elections, the first set of draft map scenarios was presented to the community by the District's demographers in October 2023. These maps were a starting point for community members to react to and provide feedback. A second set of draft map scenarios was compiled from community feedback and draft maps received by the district and the Community Trustee Area Districting (CTAD) committee between October 2023 and early March 2024. The CTAD committee presented this second set of community-based draft map scenarios to the Board of Trustees at a Map Hearing on March 20, 2024.

Following a second round of community feedback from mid-March to early April, and taking into account feedback from the Board of Trustees, a third set of draft map scenarios was created. Two of these maps are the final recommendation from the CTAD committee. The third map was finalized by staff based on work that was unable to be completed at the final CTAD meeting on April 8.  These maps will be presented to the Board to make a final decision on the trustee area map at the April 24, 2024 Map Hearing (6 p.m. in the Shannon Theatre at Fremont High School).

This final set of draft map scenarios is now available to the community on our Maps webpage.

其中两幅地图是CTAD(社区托管区划)委员会的最终建议。

On March 7, 2023, the FUHSD Board of Trustees passed a resolution indicating its intention to transition Governing Board elections from At-Large Elections to By-Trustee Area Elections. The transition will see Board members elected from trustee areas, instead of by all District voters. As part of this transition, the district has been seeking input from the community on the development of the trustee area boundary maps. (Please note this is not a boundary change for school attendance areas, rather a change in how the Board is elected).

In order to improve the outreach component of this process and to assist in the process of developing maps for ultimate consideration by the Board of Trustees, the Board requested that a Community Trustee Area Districting (CTAD) Committee be formed to facilitate the process of gathering input and developing the draft maps that will be considered by the Board. The CTAD committee will be holding multiple community meetings to gather public input. The committee will then submit a set of focus maps to the Board of Trustees to be considered. More information about the CTAD, including the list of CTAD Committee meetings, can be found on CTAD webpage.

FUHSD will also post updates on this process to our Trustee Areas webpage. Please visit these webpages for more information and to stay updated on this process. This webpage will include updates on opportunities for public input, the process for developing the trustee area boundary map, dates of relevant hearings, and the draft boundary maps themselves.
