Student Transfer Programs

The District has two Board approved school transfer programs designed to help balance enrollment within the district. Currently, the two programs are:

  • Lynbrook Supplemental School Assignment Program (LSSAP) and
  • Monta Vista Supplemental School Assignment Programs (MSSAP)

Both programs have specific qualifications and eligibility requirements.  Please read below for more information to see if you qualify.  Please direct all questions about these programs to the Enrollment Center at enrollment@fuhsd.org.

MONTA VISTA TRANSFER PROGRAM
There will be an informational meeting and campus tour for all interested Homestead parents and students on Thursday, January 23 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM in the Student Union.  There is also a shadow day for eligible students on February 3 from 8:00 – 11:30 AM.

LYNBROOK HIGH SCHOOL

SUPPLEMENTAL SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT PROGRAM

APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE BEGINNING JANUARY 21 AT 8:00 AM.

 

In order to be considered qualified to participate in the LHS Supplemental School Assignment Program, students must meet BOTH of the following criteria:

  • Currently live within the Fremont Union High School district boundaries;
  • Successfully completed Online Enrollment and Registration for the 2025-26 school year by the LSSAP Application Deadline of February 7 at 3:00 PM.

In addition, students must also meet ONE of the following additional criteria:

  • Current 8th Grade student attending Miller Middle School on an Intra District Transfer;
  • Current 8th Grade student attending Christa McAuliffe School;
  • Current 8th Grade student living in the CUSD Hyde Attendance area, which is the Cupertino High School Attendance area East of Wolfe Rd. / Miller Ave., excluding Vallco Parkway

Total Transfer Spots Available:   

  • The District will accept  a maximum of 65 transfers  
  • All applications from Miller and McAuliffe Middle Schools will be accepted and granted a transfer (estimated to be 40-50 students)
  • The remaining spots are available for students in the Hyde Attendance Area (estimated to be 20-30 students)
  • If the number of applications received from the Hyde attendance area is more that the number of available, students will be selected randomly

MONTA VISTA HIGH SCHOOL

SUPPLEMENTAL SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT PROGRAM

APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE BEGINNING JANUARY 21 AT 8:00 AM.

 

In order to be considered qualified to participate in the MVHS Supplemental School Assignment Program, students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Current 8th Grade Student
  • Currently live within the Homestead High School attendance boundaries (Address Lookup Tool available on https://www.fuhsd.org/enrollment);
  • Successfully completed Online Enrollment and Registration for the 2025-26 school year by the MSSAP Application Deadline of February 7 at 3:00 PM.

There will be 30 student transfers available for this program.  If more than 30 qualified applications are received, then students will be selected randomly.

Important Considerations for Both Programs

QUALIFIED SIBLINGS (Sibling Privilege)

Families applying for this program for a qualified student may add qualified siblings to the application.  A qualified sibling meets ALL of the following requirements:

  1. Is currently living full time at the address listed on Part 2 of the Application and will continue to live full time with all other siblings listed on application
  2. Must currently be enrolled Grade 5, 6, 7 or 8
  3. Must be a sibling of the student listed in Part 1 of the application (brother/sister, step brother/sister, half-brother/sister, legally adopted brother/sister or foster child) and share the same parent/legal guardian listed in Part 2 of the application - siblings must reapply when they are old enough to participate in the program
  4. Must meet all Registration and Address Verification requirements upon entering Grade 9.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

  • Families may only complete one application to be used for all eligible family members.  Families turning in multiple applications may be removed from consideration.  If an application is selected in the lottery, all qualified students and siblings listed on the application will be granted a transfer (current and future students).
  • All families will be notified via email of the acceptance or rejection of their application. 
  • School placement due to Special Programs needs, such as Special Education or other Education Options programs supersedes any transfer program
  • Students living outside of our district boundaries are not eligible for this program
  • Students that qualify for a transfer due to living in a specified attendance boundary area, must continue to live within that attendance area to remain at their transfer school
  • Students using a Caregiver Affidavit to attend school in the Fremont Union High School District are not eligible for this program
  • Transportation will not be provided for students transferred to Lynbrook or Monta Vista High Schools as part of the LSSAP or MSSAP programs.
