College Enrichment Workshops

The Fremont Union High School District, in partnership with the City of Cupertino Recreation & Community Services, is pleased to offer a college preparation course for High School Juniors (class of 2019), taught by experienced FUHSD Guidance Counselors and College/Career Advisors. Summer Intensive Geometry

The 2018 Summer Intensive Geometry course is intended for current FUHSD students who completed Algebra 1 in 9th grade and who want to advance to Algebra 2 in 10th grade.

The course was designed as part of the district's transition to Common Core. Since a year-long course will be compressed into a 6-week intensive summer class, the class will be quite rigorous: each instructional day is four hours of class time, and is the equivalent of about a week of regular school year content. Assessments will take place approximately every other day. Students will also be expected to complete additional assignments and projects independently. The first unit of study is expected to be completed online in its entirety during the week before the summer course begins, with a test on that material on the first day. To be successful in this Summer Intensive Geometry course, students will need to demonstrate a strong commitment by attending and fully engaging in the course work every day, both in and out of class. The current estimate for time spent out of class is 3-5 hours for the unit to be completed before the first day, and 1-2 hours per day/week for the duration of the course. This amount of time may vary based on the student's study skills and prior knowledge.

A letter was sent home in early February to eligible students about the SIG course and registration process. The deadline to register for the Summer Intensive Geometry course is March 1 at 10 p.m. Students will receive confirmation that they were placed in a class or on the waitlist by March 7.
