IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING
2008-2009 REGISTRATION &
RESIDENCY VERIFICATION PROCESS
FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS

Only current 10th grade students and those students attending District schools on
Caregiver Affidavits or Interdistrict Transfers are required
to complete the District’s reregistration and residency verification process
for the 2008-09 school year.

In January and February 2008, ALL current 10th grade students in the Fremont Union High School District will be required to verify District residency before registering for next year’s classes. Opportunities will be provided for families to present required ORIGINAL documents to their current school prior to the course selection process. All current 10th graders must verify residency at the school site unless otherwise notified.

IF a student is not living within the District’s boundaries FULL-TIME, or if a student’s living arrangements do not agree with the statements provided by a parent or legal guardian, the student will NOT be allowed to attend schools in the Fremont Union High School District.

If at any time a student’s residency is in question, the District will investigate.

Any student who fails to complete the process by February 29, 2008 will be deemed to have moved outside District boundaries and will be disenrolled this school year.

RESIDENCY VERIFICATION DOCUMENTATION:
All new and continuing students must provide residency verification documentation.  A student can have only one residence for the purposes of establishing residency.  A student shall be considered to have complied with residency verification requirements when parents/legal guardians have provided the following documentation:

THREE (3) documents are REQUIRED to
establish residency — ONE from EACH of the 3 sections below.

Post Office boxes do not meet residency requirements.  Only street addresses are accepted.

Utility (PG&E, water, etc.), telephone bills, or deeds are NOT VALID
residency verification documents.

#1 – Parent/Guardian’s Picture ID from the following list:  Current California State
Driver’s License; OR Current California State ID Card; OR Valid Passport of
Consulate Issued Picture ID; OR Credencial Para Votar.

#2 – ONE of the following ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS with the parent/guardian’s
                name and address:
Current valid vehicle registration; OR Current (2007) W-2
forms; OR Current paycheck issues by employer with both the employer and
employee’s name and address imprinted on the paycheck.

#3 – ONE of the following ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS with the parent/guardian’s
                name and address:
Original Property Tax Bill with parent name and current
2008-09 property address, indicating homeowner’s exemption; OR Tenant original
copy of Rental or Lease Agreement with parent/guardian name, student name and
address, as well as manager or owner’s name and phone number.

CAREGIVER AFFIDAVITS:
Students shall qualify as District residents if they reside FULL-TIME in the home of a caregiving adult within District boundaries.  The caregiving adult must provide residency verification as outlined above.  “Full time” for the purposes of this regulation is defined as:

The student’s primary residency is that of the caregiving adult, 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. The student resides in the home of the caregiving adult during periods of vacation or repose.

Residency verification for students on Caregiver Affidavits is handled ONLY at the Enrollment & Residency Office located at the District Office, 589 W. Fremont Avenue in Sunnyvale.  Please contact the Residency and Enrollment Office at (408) 522-2266 to arrange an appointment to meet with a District administrator.

INTERDISTRICT ATTENDANCE AGREEMENTS:
Due to space and enrollment considerations, Fremont Union High School District limits the number of incoming interdistricts.  Students currently attending Fremont Union High School District schools on interdistrict attendance agreements must renew their agreements in order to remain in attendance with the District. Release from the resident district is required and the conditions under which the original agreement was approved must not have changed.  In addition, students must be in good academic standing, have a pattern of on-time, regular school attendance, and have demonstrated satisfactory school behavior or the transfer will not be renewed.

SENIOR PRIVILEGE:
If a current eleventh (11th) grade student moves outside the Fremont Union High School District AFTER May 15, 2008, the student may be eligible to apply for an interdistrict transfer to remain in the District for the student’s senior year.  Conditions for continued enrollment apply.   Detailed information regarding Senior Privilege is available at the Residency and Enrollment Office.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS DOCUMENTATION:
If your address has changed and you still reside within District boundaries, you should participate in registration at your current school. If a change of school assignment is required, you will be notified by a member of the Residency staff.

In addition to registration and residency documentation for your current residence, you will be required to document that you no longer reside at former residence by producing the following:

Moves Involving Sale of Property:  Final close of escrow statement for former property; OR Final statement of moving company documenting address where belongings were moved from and address to which they were delivered; AND dated DMV computer-generated change of address document of vehicle registration and/or driver’s license or State ID card.  DMV change of address cards will not be accepted.

Moves Involving Rental Properties: Company-generated final property inspection report from landlord or manager verifying that the dwelling has been vacated; OR Company-generated letter of notice to vacate from landlord or manager verifying last date of occupancy; AND dated DMV computer-generated change of address document of vehicle registration and/or driver’s license or State ID card.  DMV change of address cards will not be accepted.

Your change of address must be processed within 14 days (two weeks) of the date of your move.   This includes moves will occur during the summer months.  Please follow the procedures noted above and bring all necessary documentation with you to the Enrollment & Residency Office located at the District Office, 589 W. Fremont Avenue in Sunnyvale..

If it is determined that false information was given to secure or to determine residency,
the student will be disenrolled.
