Of the 15,258 high school graduates from Santa Clara County public high schools in 2006, 29% of them chose to attend Foothill or De Anza. This included 31% of the 2006 graduates in the Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD).
“While both my son and daughter had many choices, they chose to attend community college before transferring to Cal Poly and the University of California, Santa Cruz,” stated Board Vice President Nancy Newton. “We need to help our students, parents and community know about the wonderful opportunities available at De Anza and Foothill.”
Student Board Member JingJing Xia reported she took business and psychology classes at De Anza and found them challenging. “My friend is at De Anza right now and is going to transfer to Berkeley in the springtime,” stated JingJing. “Students need to know that students really succeed at De Anza and Foothill and many transfer to UC’s.”
The Foothill-De Anza Community College and Fremont Union High School Districts share a partnership in bridging high school and college offerings and opportunities. Both are excited about continuing articulation and increasing accessibility of information on these offerings and opportunities to students, families, and high school personnel.
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District’s generous community has passed two bond measures to provide exceptional facilities on both campuses. These include the Lohman Theatre, Science Center, Kirsch Center for Innovation, and the Student & Community Services Center.
