FUHSD begins Principal Search for Monta Vista High School

FUHSD will begin the process of searching for a new principal for Monta Vista High School, following the announcement by current Principal April Scott that she will be retiring, effective at the end of the current school year.

Principal Scott's fourteen year tenure as the beloved principal of Monta Vista High School has capped a career of 30 years of dedicated service to the Fremont Union High School District, during which time she has served as a math teacher, mentor teacher, department lead, assistant principal and Director of Educational Services.

We recognize that the departure of Principal Scott represents a significant change for the Monta Vista community. Throughout the month of March, FUHSD will be seeking input from students, staff, parents and the broader community to ensure that the next principal has the desired characteristics and leadership traits to build on Monta Vista’s many successes, maintain its exemplary academic record and continue to nurture our students as they learn, grow and work towards becoming productive citizens in the world.

Opportunities for community input will be provided during the following forums:

  • Faculty and Staff: MVHS Staff Meeting on March 13 (Library) and Prep Period Meetings on March 16 (Conference Room 1)
  • Students: March 22 at 9:15 a.m. during Tutorial (Auditorium)
  • Parents and Community: MVHS PTSA Meeting on March 27 at 7 p.m. (Auditorium)

Interviews for the principal position are tentatively scheduled for April. Candidates who are moved forward will make site visits to Monta Vista in late April, with a selection to be made in May. Once approved, Principal Scott will be working with her successor to ensure a smooth transition for the entire school community.

Thank you in advance for your support as we work together to find the best possible candidate to succeed Principal Scott at the helm of Monta Vista High School. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Paula Robinson, Director of Human Resources, at (408) 522-2279.
