This week, the California Department of Education (CDE) released a new accountability system and corresponding website designed to help parents and communities access important information about K-12 districts and schools across the state and how well they are serving their students. This system, known as the California School Dashboard, is a significant departure from the Academic Performance Index. We understand there will likely be many questions from our families and community members about the new system, which moves away from a single number/ranking to a system aligned to multiple measures, including graduation and suspension rates, indicators of college and career readiness, English Learner progress and test scores.
Please read the attached letter for more information on the CA Dashboard and directions on accessing the CDE’s website on the CA Dashboard.
The Alameda County Office of Education has also put on a wonderful video, which explains the Dashboard in more detail.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools as we work to ensure that every student has the strongest foundation for future success.
