CAHSEE — California High School Exit Exam
Fremont Union High School District students have done very well on the California High School Exit Exam — a test of English-language arts and mathematics. The class of 2006 is the first class in California required to pass the Exit Exam in order to receive a high school diploma. Students are required to take the CAHSEE for the first time in tenth grade and are given up to five additional opportunities to pass the test during high school. Currently, about 94% of District seniors have successfully passed both portions of the test (88% of seniors have passed both portions statewide). As we near the November administration of the test, District schools know which seniors still need to pass portions of the Exit Exam to fulfill their graduation requirements and will be working to get them ready to take it. Schools will soon be sending out a letter to parents notifying them that their students (when applicable) still have not passed one or both portions of the test.
