DE ANZA Concurrent Enrollment
Earn College Credit While
Attending High School

Offered by Fremont Union High School District
in collaboration with De Anza Community College

Only junior and senior  grade-level students are eligible to take classes at De Anza College during  the regular school year. De Anza classes are intended for enrichment purposes only (for college credit only) and will not appear on your high school transcript unless you get written permission from your high school administrator PRIOR to taking a De Anza course. Putting these classes on your high school transcript is not always in your best interest, so talk to  your Guidance Counselor or Assistant Principal if this is something you are considering.

The cost per quarter is  $36 (may change without notice). This fee does not include books, lab fees, or parking.

Payment may be made online at the De Anza  website or in person at the Cashier's window in the Student and Community  Services Building http://www.deanza.edu/map/ on the De Anza College campus.

STEP 1:  Selection of Courses

STEP 2: Apply to De Anza  College

  • Apply online at http://www.deanza.edu/registration/myinfo.html
Read information about applying at the bottom of the page, and  then click on "login" at the bottom of the page.
  • Go to "De Anza  Application for Admission"
  • Select "Are you a NEW, RETURNING, or HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT" and then click Submit
  • Select "YES for the question: will you be a high school student and enrolled at De Anza College at the same time?" and then click Submit .
  • Enter your Social Securty Number (SSN) without "-" between the numbers; i.e. 123456789. If you do not have a SSN, use zeroes; i.e. 000000000
  • Enter your birthday in the format provided
  • Select a four (number) pin that you will remember and answer the security questions at the bottom. Then proceed through 3-4 more screens, answering residency and education questions.
  • You MUST print off the K-12 Permission Form for  high school students before you close the window — there are three (3) pages.

STEP 3: K-12 Permission Form

  • Get your  assistant principal or the principal (not a counselor) and your parents  to sign the K-12 Permission Form for high school students. If you are requesting high school credit for the course, you must receive pre-approval from the site principal  or designee. You must complete the Request for Credit from  Outside Educational Institutions form in order to request  pre-approval.
  • If you forget to print the forms at the end of Step 2, you must still access the K-12 permission form from the De Anza website: http://deanza.edu/registration/forms.html  Please note that it will only be one page and you must complete Step 2 before De Anza will accept this form.
  • Take your completed K-12  Permission form to the De Anza Admissions and Records Department located in the Student & Community Services Building on the first floor. You will be able to register for your class on the first designated day for new/former student registration. Please check the De Anza website for the date.

STEP 4: Placement Testing

  • If you are interested in taking an English, math, biology, chemistry or  physics course, you are required to take a placement test prior to  registering.  Testing information can be found at http://deanza.edu/admissions/placement.html
  • Courses you have completed at your high school and/or scores from AP exams  may allow you to avoid testing, but is at the discretion of the De Anza  Assessment Center, located in the Student & Community Services  building.  You will need to provide hard copies of your grades or  scores to the Assessment Center for their approval.
