CA High School Exit Exam

CAHSEE Suspended

On October 7, 2015, Governor Brown signed SB 172, which suspends the CAHSEE for the next three years. This law also allows districts to issue high school diplomas to students from the Classes of 2004-2014 who met all other district requirements for graduation except for the exit exam.

CAHSEE/SB 172 Frequently Asked Questions (link to CDE)

FUHSD is looking forward to the opportunity to issue diplomas to eligible former students from the Classes of 2004-2014 once the law takes effect on January 1, 2016. Students are eligible if they completed all course and credit requirements prior to their class graduating. To initiate the eligibility verification process, please complete the online form below. Allow 2-3 weeks for processing and verification. An FUHSD staff member will contact you about your eligibility and next steps.

SB 725 and the Class of 2015

On August 26, 2015, Governor Brown signed SB 725, an emergency bill that suspended the CAHSEE requirement for a high school diploma for the Class of 2015. FUHSD students in the Class of 2015 who completed all course and credit requirements but did not pass the CAHSEE and received an FUHSD Certificate of Completion in June or July are now eligible for a high school diploma from their high school. School officials will be contacting eligible students soon to issue diplomas.

This bill applies to the Class of 2015 only.

The CAHSEE is divided into two parts: English-Language Arts and Mathematics. All questions are aligned to the California content standards adopted by the State Board of Education.

Click here for more information about the content standards covered on the CAHSEE.

If you have questions about the CAHSEE, please contact your Assistant Principal at your high school or Marianne Hew, Coordinator of Curriculum and Assessment, at 408-522-2291 at the District Office.
