ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE INDEX

 

This cornerstone of California's Public Schools Accountability Act
of 1999 measures the academic performance and growth of schools
on a variety of academic measures. All schools in the state are given
an Academic Performance Index (API) score on a scale of 200 to 1000
with a target of 800.

A school met its growth target if it met its schoolwide growth target, and
all numerically significant subgroups at the school demonstrated
comparable improvement.
