Recently, the swimming team from Lynbrook High School received over one-hundred misprinted sweatshirts. The front of these sweatshirts read “LSH” instead of “LHS.”
In considering the options for these sweatshirts, Principal Gail Davidson and swim coach Patrick Ellington contacted the Lynbrook students who, under their non-profit organization called Youth Impact, have been working to support orphanages and rural schools in Tibet. Was it possible to ship the clothes to an orphanage in Tibet?
The Lynbrook students enthusiastically accepted the sweatshirts and coordinated the arrangements to get them transported to Tibet. While the orphanage does receive other support, the owner of the orphanage shared that this is the first time the children had actually received brand new clothes. She expressed how grateful the students were and said how much it means to them to receive this great gift. The photo includes the younger students and the banner reads, "Dickey orphanage thanks Lynbrook" in both Tibetan and Chinese.
