Board of Trustees

The Fremont Union High School District Board of Trustees is a five member Governing Board elected by the resident voters in its community. Board members are residents and taxpayers in the community. Each Board Member serves four years. The Intradistrict Council elects a student representative to the Board of Trustees, whose vote, while not deciding, reflects the preference of the student member.

The Governing Board is a policy-making body. The policies which it establishes are carried out by the administration of the District.

Any person desiring to address the Board of Trustees at one of its meetings is requested to fill out a Public Participation at Board Meeting Card and give it to the staff member next to the superintendent. Speakers are limited to three minutes each with a maximum of 15 minutes total.

While meetings of the Board of Trustees are not public meetings, they are open to the public. The only exception is a closed session for personnel matters, instructions to the Board's negotiating team, student matters such as expulsion hearings, and consultation with the Board's attorney on matters of litigation. Actions taken in closed session are announced to the public.
