In preparation for the flu season, the Center for Disease Control and Santa Clara County Public Health Department have recommendations for infection control of Influenza-Like Illness .
- An Influenza-Like Illness has the following symptoms: Fever with either Cough, Sore throat or Runny nose.
- A fever is defined as having a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater.
The CDC recommends that staff and students with Influenza-Like Illness should be away from others for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone (without the use of fever-reducing medicine).
Prevention is still the key to keeping as many staff and students as possible healthy. Recommendations include: frequent hand washing, covering your cough and not coming to school when ill.
