Oct, 15 2008 (Wed) Bully-Proofing Your Child
Trisha Peterson, M.A. MFT
Tricia Peterson is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Campbell. She coaches parents in effective intervention skills to help their children in bullying situations and trains school personnel.  In this session you will learn effective methods of working with bullies, victims, bystanders and parents, and how to approach your child’s school if your child is bullied or a bully.
Nov 17, 2008 (Mon) Developing IEPs for Students that Result in Educational Benefit
Pamela Ptacek, SELPA Director Santa Clara County SELPAss I, II, III, IV,  & VII
Pamela Ptacek has extensive experience in special education administration and regularly conducts Individual Education Plan (IEP) process training sessions for parents. Her presentation will focus on the IEP components, the importance of completing components in correct order, the importance of education benefit, and how parents should document the discussion at an IEP.

Please come and gain some insight on what to expect if an officer responds to a call involving your child or teenager, as well as what you can do to be prepared beforehand
Mar 16, 2009 (Mon) Identifying and Acting Upon Undiagnosed Disabilities in Children
Cheryl Bowers, Ph.D.
Dr. Bowers is a neuropsychologist with 28 years experience testing and evaluating children with a wide variety of disabilities.  While serious disabilities are almost always identified in span class="yshortcuts">early childhood, less serious disabilities like ADHD and dyslexia can easily go un-diagnosed and un-treated for years while the child and family suffers.  Also, some children have multiple diagnoses but a minor diagnosis can easily get missed.  Dr. Bowers will talk about how to identify if your child is struggling with a minor disability and what you can do to ensure that your child gets the help he or she needs.
