Academic Performance Index (API)
This cornerstone of California's Public Schools Accountability Act of 1999 measures the academic performance and growth of schools on a variety of academic measures. All schools in the state are given an Academic Performance Index (API) score on a scale of 200 to 1000 with a target of 800.

“A” for Growth Target means the school scored at or above
the statewide performance target of 800
Homestead & Monta Vista High Schools’ API scores dropped this year although both are above the state target of 800. * — FHS’s schoolwide growth target
was 5 and, while there was growth, they only went up 2 points schoolwide.
* — FHS did not make Comparable Improvement target for their Filipino, Hispanic or Latino, White (not of Hispanic origin), SED or EL subgroups; HHS did not make their target for their Hispanic or Latino or EL subgroups.
